Eboost and Endurance – B12

Posted by Matt on May 04, 2010

Endurance, energy, get up and go, however you want to phrase it, there are very few people roaming the earth with boundless levels of energy. Our fast paced lives only get faster, and the 40 hour work week has been replaced by a 60 hour grind.  Our environment is changing, we sleep 10% to 20% less than we did 20 years ago, and the food we eat is slowly losing its mineral and nutrient value year after year due to crop yielding practices and demand on overall food consumption.  Add rising inflation (especially in Vancouver!), career stress and the demand of keeping up , and it is no wonder that most of find start to drag ourselves along throughout the day just waiting to hit the sheets.  Many of our clients start taking Eboost and usually come back with very similar reactions.  “I just feel better, I can’t explain it, but overall my body feels more in tune and look forward to taking the product as part of my daily routine”  I am paraphrasing, but can tell you I have this conversation several times a week with clients and friends.  Why?

The CORE FOUR; increased water intake, B12, caffeine (its actually good for you) and glucoronolactone.  Dehydration is a killer, and it is estimated that half the population walks around dehydrated on a daily basis – fact is we don’t drink enough water throughout the day.  Eboost helps to increase our water intake, and the benefits of more water will impact multiple areas of you and your families life.  Small amounts of caffeine have been proven in numerous studies to actually aid the body in many areas. Yes super high dosages of caffeine can dehydrate your body but you will note that Eboost has a mere 100mg which is less than a cup of coffee.  I will leave that for another blog; standby.  Glucoronolactone is a naturally occurring chemical produced by the metabolism of glucose, this I another ingredient that is helping Eboost provide our clients with a nice level endurance throughout the day.  But what about B12?

There is very little bioavailability of B12 in food, thus we need to supplement our diet with forms like ingestible capsules/tablets, lozenge, injections etc…The information below contains a solid explanation of B12, and why it is important to recognize the value it can add to our diet.  1000 mcg is used in our product, the maximum allowed by Health Canada regulations.  Bottom line, we are providing you the highest level we can!

For health-conscious individuals, a regular intake of a prescribed amount of vitamin B12 is a key element for preserving a balance in the human body. In combination with other B-group vitamins, vitamin B12 ensures the smooth functioning of vital life processes of the human body. It is important for maintaining a healthy nervous system and DNA production. Vitamin B12 helps to regulate the formation of red blood cells in the body. Other benefits of vitamin B12 include its role in maintaining and increasing energy levels in the human body.

Research studies reveal a clear, inverse correlation between homocysteine (an amino acid found in the human body) levels and vitamin B12 levels. Blocking the formation of homocysteine leads to endothelial dysfunction (a narrowing of the arteries) and is a precursor of atherosclerosis; vitamin B12 helps to curb atherosclerosis. A supplement of vitamin B12 also augments the efficiency of folic acid’s capacity to lower homocysteine levels. Researchers are of the opinion that in conjunction with folic acid, an adequate dose of vitamin B12 helps to counter heart diseases and thrombosis. The synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a compound involved in immune function and mood, depends on the association of folate and vitamin B12.

Studies indicate that absorption of Vitamin B12 decreases with an increase in age. Hence, an increased intake of vitamin B12 is extremely useful for adults above fifty. In most cases, vitamin B12 should be taken in conjunction with a folic acid supplement and a B-Complex vitamin. The good news is that while an intake of vitamin B12 facilitates functions necessary for everyday existence, an extra dose causes no harm but instead could be stored for future use. I hope this information has been helpful in understanding the “I just feel better” quote that so many of our customers are writing in about.
